Animal Windfest 2010

On Sept 12th I spent the day on the beach at Animal Windfest. Sandbanks, Dorset, is the beautiful location for the annual Windfest which is now in its 12th year. The organisers do an amazing job.  Animal Windfest is the only free daytime beach sports festival in the UK. The schedule for the weekend is immense; Animal Bike Show, Red Bull Skate ramp, Ultimate Beach Frisbee, Beach Volleyball, Red Bull Matadors Aerobatic display, Wake Boarding and the list goes on.

It was a great day, the sun was shining, though unfortunately the weather didn’t provide the wind needed for all the water events. I love photographing the Animal Bike Shows and the Red Bull Skate ramp. Have to confess I have never actually been on a skate ramp before, had to ask how to get to the top; run!! How to get back down; yep run! I took the girly option and slid back down the ramp on my butt!!

If you live in the Dorset area I definitely recommend checking out Animal Windfest next year…

A brand new band…

A brand new band based in the London area got in touch needing some promo images. The band wanted to do the shoot in their local area at an abandoned airstrip, we were so lucky to have gorgeous weather. The airstrip turned out to be an awesome location, creating the backdrop we were looking for. Guys you were great to work with, thanks for such a fun shoot. x

Corsham Church in Winter

After wandering along some country roads, dodging the frozen puddles and stumbling upon a conservation area I never knew existed, headed to Corsham Church to see if there were any wintery scenes worth shooting.

Avebury – standing stone

There are only a few stones left at Avebury now compared to its time of construction.  After doing a little research I have found out the missing stones were either broken up by local Christian authorities in the 14th century as part of their effort to remove vestiges of pagan religious practices, or they were removed and broken up to use in the construction of houses and the cleared area used for crops. Where the stones once stood there are now markers to show where they were positioned. It is rather sad so many were removed.

Bank at Avebury Henge on Christmas morning

On Christmas morning instead of the usual routine, of opening presents in my PJ’s I headed out with my parents to Avebury Stone Circle for a walk. It was a lovely bright day, there were surprisingly quite a few people out seeing it was so early in the morning. This has to be my favourite shot taken from on top of the bank.

Tree Shadow

Oh my! It has been over a week since my last update! promise to try and find more time next week…

The below image was taken last year, I positioned myself directly in front of the tree to get a clean shadow in the frozen lake.
