Blythe Majors – O2 Academy Oxford 2011

BlytheMajorsOxford2011-038BWWhilst covering a couple of dates on the East 17 ‘Back to the Future’ tour I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing an emerging new talent, Blythe Majors

Hailing from Edinburgh, Blythe is a solo artist with an amazing talent for songwriting and performing. He has been working on his debut album over the past few months and is now recording the final tracks before adding the finishing touches. He never set out to be in the music industry but with some complimentary comments whilst singing along to songs with friends, he moved along the path to become a songwriter and has gained the acclaim of CBS television network who are looking to use his songs in some of their top shows.

Blythe has a clear passion for music which comes across in so many of the pictures, making him a great subject to shoot. I hope to be catching up with Blythe again soon in the recording studio.

East 17

Recently I was called by a friend and asked if I would like to go to London to do a photo shoot with East 17. The shoot would be for all their new promo material. Of course I said yes!

I have always liked East 17 so it was a pleasure to spend an afternoon with them taking their new pictures.

Sick City Club – ‘Save Your Life’

Back in the summer I was fortunate enough to work on the music video for Sick City Club’s ‘Save Your Life’. Sick City Club are a band hailing from Birmingham. Since forming over seventeen months ago, their life in music has seen them play shows with the likes of Zane Lowe, The Futureheads, Underground Heroes etc. Championed on Radio 1, Xfm, Kerrang and countless other stations their tunes have caught the ear of people like Steve Lemacq, Nick Grimshaw and Tom Robinson.

The location for the shoot was in Birmingham’s O2 Academy in the centre of the City. It was the first time I had met the guys but they were great to work with and made the shoot really easy. Part of it was made up of the sound check and backstage footage so it was all very natural and the guys made me feel quite at home!

They later performed to a packed venue and really got the crowd going!

Guys you were a pleasure to work with, look forward to seeing you again soon 🙂

A brand new band…

A brand new band based in the London area got in touch needing some promo images. The band wanted to do the shoot in their local area at an abandoned airstrip, we were so lucky to have gorgeous weather. The airstrip turned out to be an awesome location, creating the backdrop we were looking for. Guys you were great to work with, thanks for such a fun shoot. x
